FAQ
What is Montessori?
The Montessori method, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago, is a child-centered approach that is student led, but teacher guided. It allows the student room to follow their curiosity, which frees them to progress at their own pace. Paired with warm, nurturing teachers, multi-age classrooms, and peer to peer mentorship, Montessori students often excel far beyond traditional expectations.

My child doesn't like to sit in a desk. Will your classroom setup work well for them?
Absolutely! Our Montessori classrooms do not have desks, rather small tables, floor space, etc. that allow the child to move and sit freely while they learn. Walking into a Montessori classroom, you'll often see one student at a table, a group of students working on mats on the floor, and another student sitting in a reading corner.
Do you provide transportation?
We do not provide transportation. All families at Ramalynn Academy are driven to and from school by their parents and/or family members.
Do you provide meals?
We do not provide meals. Each student should come to school each day with a lunch packed in an insulated lunch box, a morning, and an afternoon snack.
What are your class sizes and student-to-teacher ratios?
The class sizes are intentionally small, allowing time for one-on-one teaching with each student. Additionally, our classrooms are multi-age, allowing older students to mentor and develop leadership skills.
What extracurricular activities are available to students?
We offer several clubs and activities for our students. These include academic competitions, Lego Robotics League, Math Olympiad, Chess Club, Odyssey of the Mind, and The Stock Market Game. We offer private piano and Suzuki violin lessons. Students also have the opportunity to join extracurricular athletics and summer programs.
What documents are required to secure admission in your school?
Once you have completed a tour of the school, parents can download our online Application Form and submit the application form and $50 application fee to the office. Our office will then reach out and invite your child for an orientation in the classroom. After the orientation is complete, our Head of Admissions will discuss with you the final steps for enrollment. The Enrollment Form and $150 enrollment fee will be due to secure your child's placement. Parents will sign a Transcript Release Form to allow our admissions office to have access to transcripts from prior schools.
